Contact Lens Exams
Dr. H. Jeff Ward, owner and optometrist at Highlands Ranch Optical, completed a prestegious residency in Corneal Pathology and Difficult Contact Lens Fits. His rotations included Harvard University's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, The Scleral Lens Foundation of Boston, and Cornea Consultants of Boston. So whatever your contact lens needs, feel certain we can meet them. Dr. Ward routinely fits the following types of contact lenses:
- Soft Disposable Contact Lenses: clear, colored, bifocal, contacts for astigmatism.
- Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) Contact Lenses: single vision, astigmatism, multifocal, specialty (keratoconus, corneal transplant, post-Lasik, etc.).
- Scleral Lenses: scleral lenses are very large RGP contact lenses designed to rest on the sclera (the "white" of the eyes). These lenses are a great option for patients who require RGP contact lenses (keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, corneal tranplants, post-Lasik, post-RK, and high astigmatism) but are unable to tolerate standard RGP contact lenses (due to comfort or stability). Scleral lenses are instantly comfortable (no adaptation period as with standard RGP contact lenses) and provide unmatched stability (no more lenses popping out!!!).
- Orthokeratology Contact Lenses: an extremely safe non-surgical alternative to Lasik. Patients wear these contact lenses while sleeping, remove them in the morning, and then see perfect all day (that is right, they have no need for any correction during all of their waking hours!). Also known as Corneal Reshaping, Corneal Refractive Therapy, and Corneal Molding.
- Z-Wave Custom Contacts: custom rigid gas permeable contact lenses designed from a 3D map of the eye. Also available in bifocal and specialty designs.
- Synergeyes: a "hybrid" specialty contact lens (with both soft and gas permeable properties) with designs specifically for high astigmatism, keratoconus, and unsatisfactory lasik outcomes.
